This weekend brings the end of the summer holidays and the beginning of meteorological autumn, so it's back to school and back to the Shed.

General meeting (4th Sept)

Greystone's House re-opens on Monday and our first "Room 11" general meeting is on Tuesday 4th at the usual time of 2.00 pm.

The agenda for our meeting will be largely focused on getting your ideas for the facilities, use and design of the proposed new shed at Somerford.

Les Mercer has prepared an outline of the committee's thoughts on this (see file sent by email) but we want your ideas before we go ahead and brief our architect. So, if you can, please come along and share your thoughts and ideas!

Workshop

I am planning to go to the workshop for a couple of hours on Tuesday morning. Hopefully the work left over from the lift installation has been completed during the shutdown, we shall see.....

Although most of the larger items from Wildown Road were dropped off at Somerford or in Les Mercer's garage, some of the smaller items are on the bench at Greystone's including a nice scroll saw (needs a new blade) and a selection of woodworking books and magazines. Along with the books donated by John Blakeman we now have quite a good reference library!

Members

And finally some sad news:

Austin Baggett contacted us to let us know that his father Ian Baggett had passed away after a short illness just a few months after he lost his wife. Ian was a regular at our Mudeford Club lunches and was looking forward to getting more involved in the workshop. He was a keen engineer and inventor and his pride and joy was his metal working lathe that he had used over many years. So lets all remember Ian by keeping our particular skills going so that we can pass them on to the next generation.

Hope to see you all next week with some good ideas for the new Shed!
