Mudeford Club
Make a note in your diary, we are booked into the Mudeford Club for our next lunchtime meeting on Friday 8th April at 12 o'clock
The Old School / New Workshop
If you receive the Highcliffe, Burton & Bransgore Eye magazine, you will have spotted the article from Joan Rose welcoming Men's Shed to the Old School.
Led by the new Trustees, we have made a good start on the refurbishment of the hall - a new insulated ceiling has been installed and the floor tiles arrived earlier this week thanks to a generous donation from one of our members.
The next task will be refurbing and painting the windows followed by laying the floor - watch out for a call for work parties!
Co-op Bench
Taking a break from the workshop, CMS installed a bench at the front of the Co-op in Highcliffe much to the delight of local shoppers.
Cost of Living Increases
For anyone concerned at the rising costs for just about everything and the need to undertake some fiscal belt tightening, you will be pleased to know that we have a leather punch in the workshop.
Like all our tools, the punch is available on loan from the shed - just sign it out in the tool book so we know where it is.
We have also recently acquired a pressure washer - just in time for spring cleaning the patio, so no more excuses!
Reconditioning an Oil Stone
Something that came up in conversation at the shed was old oil stones that no longer work very well.
Assuming that they are not badly worn and dont need flattening, the answer is to boil them up to remove oil and grunge.
The procedure is as follows:
Select a saucepan of appropriate size
Place a scrunched up rag on the bottom with the oilstone resting on top
Add a scoopful of whatever is in the cupboard under the sink (washing powder, detergent or dishwasher tablet)
Bring to the boil and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Repeat as required.
Remove the stone and allow it to cool naturally
Clean the saucepan
